Overview
This e-Learning course was developed for a company dedicated to providing life skills resources for youth. Recognizing that the home-buying process can be overwhelming for young individuals, this course aims to equip them with fundamental knowledge about mortgages.
Design & Process
Course development began with a detailed scope document to identify focus areas within the complex home-buying process and define the target audience. After narrowing the focus to mortgages, I developed a comprehensive content outline and course flow tailored to first-time homebuyers. The course was designed to simplify complex concepts, providing clear explanations of key terms and covering essential basics.
Next, I created a branding guide that outlined the color palette, visuals, and graphic elements to ensure a cohesive and engaging design. Using these elements, I built the course in Rise and enhanced it further through multiple rounds of feedback and refinement.
Final Product
The final product is a mini Rise course with 5 sections:
Mortgage Basics
The Mortgage Application Process
The Closing Process
Post-Closing Considerations
Additional Resources
With the target audience in mind, the course is thoughtfully designed to engage younger learners. It incorporates interactive features such as narration, flashcards, a mortgage calculator link, and a checklist to enhance the learning experience. The company intends to use this course as a supplementary resource for their students.
