Overview

This software simulation allows the learner to practice making a new slide in Articulate Storyline. Storyline is one of the most commonly used authoring tools in e-learning development, but it can be overwhelming for beginners.

Design & Process

This is a step-by step tutorial and the learner must click/type the correct items in order to progress. If they click in the wrong place, there are guiding boxes/arrows to help them. This is an effective form of a software simulation because the user gets to practice the task themself. In addition, the menu provides learner choice in completing the tutorial. Snaggit was used for crisp screenshots and to allow the learner to feel they are working directly in Articulate Storyline. Additionally, a transcript of the audio is provided in the menu.
